Rio Marina, originally an important exporting port for locally mined iron ore, is now primarily a local ferry port and small craft harbour. Anchorage can be obtained in depths of 20 to 30 m, mud and sand, good holding ground, about 180 m NE of the Molo Foraneo Light. Mariners should note the prohibited anchorage area which protects the water pipeline, encloses the E side of the mole.
