Elafonissos is renowned for its 'tropical' beaches. It is one of the most beautiful places in Greece. As soon as you get there the almost-white sand dunes, the crystal clear green-blue waters and the quiet landscape startle you. It is a place ideal for quiet vacations by the sea, with nothing to worry about.

The most famous of all beaches is Simos (twin beach of Frango – Saracenico) at the south part of the island, right across Kythira. Sadly, the rising wave of tourists is altering the image of the island, so visit it as soon as possible and avoid the high season.

Elafonisos is one of the Greek islands that you could try hard to locate in any tourist brochures, and could just as easily miss in a map.
