Karpathos is situated in the most south part of Dodecanese complex, between Crete and Rhodes, and is the second largest island of the complex. It is a mountainous island full of water springs, pine-trees forests, vineyards, olives and fruit-bearing trees. The rock-caves of the island are the home of the Mediterranean seal called Μonachus monachus.

Along with Kastelorizo, this is the only place where we can meet the amphibian species Mertensiella luscani. According to mythology, Iapetos, the son of Uranus and Gaea [Sky and Earth] was the first inhabitant of the island. Stunning beaches without crowds is a signature landscape nestled between the island's craggy cliffs.

There are 11 villages, each of them distinct in their own way. Karpathos is characterized by its people, the Karpathians as they are dedicated to the customs of their ancestors. Centuries-old traditions of singing and dancing are still performed today. Karpathians predominantly in the northern part of the island, still dress in their traditional colorful costumes as they go about their every day tasks. This living example of tradition is not witnessed in any other destination.
