Chioggia is situated at the confluence of a number of inland channels in the S part of Laguna di Venezia. Anchorage may be obtained in Avamporto in about 5 m, moderate holding, N of the dredged channel and clear of an area in which anchoring and fishing are prohibited, shown on the chart, extending S from the SW tip of Isola di Pellestrina in which there are submarine cables. Small vessels can anchor close SW of Forte San Felice and secure by the stern to the quay; also used by the Italian Navy.
