Santa Margherita Ligure is primarily a yacht and fishing vessel harbour but commercial vessels may seek shelter here as it is the only sizeable harbour between Genova and La Spezia. Anchorage can be obtained in depths of about 15 m, sand, moderate holding ground approximately 180 m NE of the mole head. Larger vessels may obtain anchorage approximately 750 m ESE of the mole head. Smaller vessels can obtain anchorage in depths of about 9 m close NE of the harour entrance. Anchorage at Santa Margherita is more sheltered than off Rapallo
