The district between Punta del Mesco (44°08′N, 9°38′E) and Capo di Monte Negro, 5 miles SE, is known as Le Cinq Terre and is noted for its wine production. Monterosso al Mare stands on a rocky spur dividing a wide sandy beach at the head of a bay entered between Punta del Mesco and Punta Corone, 1. 3 miles ESE. Two small craft harbours front the village. Anchorage can be obtained in a depth of 20 m off the W part of the beach.
