lies about 1 mile E of Isola di Ventotene. The islet is rounded and steep with rocky, steep-to coasts. The slopes of the island are cultivated and on its summit stands the prominent yellow, round building of the former prison. Isola di Sant Stefano lies within the Isole di Ventotene and Santo Stefano Protected Marine Nature Area. Much of the N coast of the island is enclosed by Zone B; the remainder by Zone A.
