Isola di Ponza, the largest island of Isole Pontine, is crescent shaped, high and rugged with an irregular outline. Monte della Guardia (40°53′0N, 12°57′4E), near the S extremity, is the highest point of the island; a disused signal station stands on its summit. The island has a flourishing fishing industry.
