Sailing Holidays in Massa Lubrense
Massa Lubrense is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Naples in the Italian region Campania, located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) southeast of Naples. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 13,404 and an area of 19.7 km².
Massa Lubrense is at the tip of the Sorrento Peninsula and occupies one of the most evocative geographical locations in Italy. Unfortunately, many visitors to the area by this beautiful stretch of cape and head straight for the famous Amalfi Coast without knowing about the spectacular views, villages and harbours that occupy this stretch of the coast.
At the furthest end of the Sorrentine Peninsula, from Massa Lubrense, the island of Capri looks so close you could swim to it. Of course Capri is not that close, but the view of the island from this position is truly remarkable.
Massa is an elegant town, is pushing the tourist opportunities of the region hard, so make sure to visit while it remains the undiscovered jewel of the peninsula. From Sant'Agata's panoramic views and Michelin-starred restaurant to the unique Punta Campanella marine reserve, this is the place to get off the beaten track, by foot or by car. Unlike Sorrento, with its volcanic tufo, the limestone which is characteristic of the Amalfi shoreline begins here, and once again rocky beaches are in evidence.
