The village of Bianco which has a population of about 3900, is situated on the coast 3 miles N of Capo Bruzzano. It can be identified by the white hills which dominate it N and S. Local knowledge is necessary for the anchorage. Anchorage can be obtained about 1 mile off Bianco in depths of 18 m to 20 m, sand and good holding ground. It is dangerous to remain at this anchorage with SE winds, which, if strong, raise a heavy sea and are often accompanied by mist which renders the coast invisible from a distance of about 1 mile.
