Sailing Holidays in Stafylos Beach
Stafylos is just 5 km away from the capital. A nice fish tavern welcomes the visitors and some wooden steps lead down to the lovely pebbled bay with fine grey sand and crystal-clear waters. Stafylos offers some rental facilities and a nice beach bar with cold drinks and snacks. The other half of the beach is totally untouched. Its name derives from the mythical Prince Stafylos. A tomb similar to the Mycenaean royal tombs, was found in the small cape on the edge of the beach with his golden sword, which is shown in the Archaeological Museum of Athens. It is said that Prince Stafylos with a group of Cretans settled there and created the city in 1600 BC.
