Poros town harbor provides an excellent shelter but, because of the constant traffic of large and small ferries, there is an almost continual wash caused by their wakes. Also, during south winds, there can be gusts. However, many yachts choose Poros in winter. The town is built on a small peninsula surrounded by quays along the S and NW sides.

Mountain biking is an activity offering in this area. You can ride a bike from Poros harbor and follow the route to Sferia, a little forest of Poros, and then take the road along the sea to get back to Poros harbor.

It is a circuit trip that begins and ends at the port of Poros. It is a moderate trip, and riders have to carry their bikes sometimes in the forest.
