Sailing Holidays in Limnia Harbor
The small port of Limiá comprises the port (skála) of the village of Volissós (400 residents). The village stands at the borders of a small hill, located in a distance of approximately 1.5 km to the port’s inland. The entrance of the port is set to the southeast and its opening is 100 m wide. Its southeastern limit consists of a 50-meter-long curved breakwater, made of a slope of masonry.
The eastern limit of the slope mentioned above the breakwater is located approximately 12 m away of the opposite rocky coast. The southwestern limit of the port’s entrance is covered by a mole that extends to the southeast for 150 m. The mole is quayed, and its base turns to the northeast for approximately 20 m.
There is a Ro-Ro ramp at that point, with nearby depths up to 4.2 m. At the root of the mole, the coast forms a semicircle which initially moves to the northeast, it then turns to the east and it finally turns to the southeast. Its final, 40-meter-long length consists of a slope of masonry, while a light exhibits at the slope’s head.
There is a small basin to the northwest of the semicircle, sized 50 X 50, the entrance of which is formed between a 20-meter-long slope of masonry and an opposite pier, sized 20 X 35, with depths between 2.8 and 3.3 m. The quayed shores extend to the northeast for approximately 140 m.
