The famous wine and tsipouro of Mount Athos is produced at Mylopotamos winery. The famous vines of Chalkidiki produce a very unique type of wine and amazing tsipouro. Tsipouro of Chalkidiki is a protected designation product. Today in Mylopotamos there are 50 hectares of vineyard, with Merlot, Limnio, Cabernet, Mouscat Hambourg, Muscat of Alexandria and Roditis varieties and a modern winery, built according to the traditional architecture of Agion Oros.There are also copper stills and receptacles for “Tsipouro” distillates.The winery is open to public. Because it is in Mount Athos it is accessible only by men since women are not allowed to the holy mountain.
