The port of Alexandroúpoli is artificial and is located to the eastern side of the homonymous city. There are important commercial activities on the port, because it is the only port that exports products made in Thrace. The port is protected by two moles.

The southwest one begins from a point, which is 180 m away from the lighthouse of Alexandroúpoli and extends to the southeast for approximately 460 m, with depths between 5.4 to 7.9 m. It then turns to the east for approximately 550 m, with depths between 3.1 to 4.7 m and it finally turns to the southeast for another 1200 m. The inner side of the southwest mole is covered with quay and there are 5 Ro-Ro ramps used for the landing of ferryboats.

The east mole is 750 m long and extends to the southwest, with a light exhibiting from its head. At the northwest corner of the port is the old small port of Alexandroúpoli, which is 110 m long and 80 m wide, with depths up to 3.4 m at its inner side and with shoals at its southern coasts. Its entrance is turned to the northeast and its opening is approximately 45 m. At the south pier of the port, which is 160 m long and 45 m wide, there is the HQ of the Alexandroúpoli Yachting Club and at the pier’s southwestern point there are two Ro-Ro ramps.

The port’s northern coasts are quayed and they extend to the northeast for approximately 270 m up to the northwestern corner of the main pier. The main pier is L-shaped. Its western side is 150 m long and its depths are approximately 6.4 m. The south side is 230 m long and its depths are approximately 6 m. Finally, the east side is 140 m long and its depths are approximately 4 m.
