Sailing Holidays in Nisyros

Nisyros is located in the Aegean Sea between the islands of Kos and Tilos. According to mythology, during the period of the Gigantomachy (war of the Giants), Poseidon (the god of the sea) plucked a rock from Kos and in anger threw it at the giant Polivotis with the intention of killing him.

This rock, which crushed the giant, became Nisiros, and the half-dead giant shakes the earth every now and then with his groans, thus awakening the volcano.

The capital and harbor of the island is Mandraki, with its white houses spread out below the imposing rock on top of which the Monastery of the Panagia Spiliani is built, while the Castle of Spiliani, a memento from the passing of the Knights dominates the harbor from a height of 150m.

Nisyros offers wonderful landscapes and walking paths, beautiful beaches witha clear sea, old churches and monasteries with a rich history and lovely Greek villages with nice restaurants and bars. In sum, Nisyros is a wonderful island for your holidays!
