It is a very closed bay that is more like a lake. It has two small settlements: Exo Vathy (at the entrance of the gulf) and Mesa Vathy which is at the edge of the gulf with a few trees, vineyards, fields. You can reach Vathy Beach either by car/motorbike or with the daily excursion boats.
