The Marble Crafts Museum of Tinos is just outside the village of Pyrgos. It presents the history of marble crafting on Tinos from the ancient years until today. Tinos is an island with rich marble quarries, with many great local marble sculptors, like Giannoulis Chalepas. The museum is the first of its kind in Greece. Visitors can see all the tools that artists were using during the years. Also at the outdoor exhibition is a hoisting machine for blocks of marble, a trolley for the transportation of marble from the quarries to the workshops and finished and unfinished marble works.
