Sailing Holidays in Karystou Harbor

The port is artificial and lies on the west shores of Kárystos bay, in front of Kárystos town (5011 residents). The port is open to the west-southwest and is protected from the south winds by a windward curved breakwater. The breakwater is 450 meters long and its direction is southwest-west. Both internally and externally the breakwater is protected by natural boulders, except for its southwest part up to 70 meters east-northeast of its head.

The leeward breakwater starts from a point of the coast that is located approximately 200 meters north of the head of windward breakwater and extends to the south-southwest for about 85 meters. The entrance of the port, with depths of 4 meters in the middle, is formed between the heads of the two breakwaters, its width is 125 meters and it is open to the west. The north shores of the port are quayed and there are also two ramps that were once used for the approach of car ferries.
