Sailing Holidays in Vir

Vir is a small settlement located on the island of the same name and is linked with mainland, respectively the Privlaka peninsula, with a bridge. It is only 26 km away from Zadar or 15 NM by sea. It is a little island with a turbulent past and it was mentioned for the first time in the 11th century documentation. One of the monuments from this hectic past is the partially preserved fort Kašetlina from the Venetian dominion built in the 17th century in the Kozjak area. In the year 1976 (when the bridge was built) the stagnation that lasted for many years on this island ceased, and today Vir is one of the most popular destinations because of its beautiful sandy and gravely beaches, clear sea and mild climate. But that’s not all, Vir beaches are special because of the therapeutic mud and favorable winds that makes them popular among the surfing population. Apart from that you can enjoy diving, wind surfing or driving around the island with a scooter. Accommodations you can find in private apartments and rooms or vacationing houses and for entertainment you can see concerts and theater and folklore performances that are a part of Virsko ljeto or Vir Summer and are being held every day during the festival. Viranka and Kotarina are our choices of restaurants where you can taste some of the home cuisine specialities, and Vagabundo and Noštromo are bars where you can have fun in the evening while sipping on a cocktail and listening to music. If you are a night bird the disco-bar More is open until morning hours and beach bars Papaya, Havana, Bikini and Shark offer entertainment in a coastal ambience.
