Novalja inlet (44°33′N 14°53′E) is entered between Rt Vrtlić and Rt Gaj. The small resort town of Novalja in front of which there is a small harbour with a pier, partially protected by a mole continued as a rubble breakwater, lies at the head of the inlet. In the entrance under the NE shore in 11 to 13 m or farther into the inlet in 5 to 8 m as appropriate to size. In the S part of the harbour the bottom near the shore is rocky; elsewhere the holding is good in mud and weed.
