Otok Mljet (42°45′N 17°30′E) consists of a chain of wooded hills with a deep depression lying at a distance of about one third of the length of the island from the SE end. The summit of the island is at Veliki Grad (42°44′N 17°33′E). The S shore is rocky and barren. The W part of the island is a National Park.
