Built on ancient walls it has been through the course of centuries the target of every conqueror, such as, Franks, Venetians, Ottoman. Their identity was kept on the walls of the castle that rise to this day in an environment charged with the memories of the past. Varakes, Kainourgio Chorio, Evaggelismos, Kamaria, Lachanada, Finiki, are the rest of the villages that comprise the Municipality of Methoni.
