Skála of Gerakiní is located at the head of Toronaíos gulf, 0.7 mile northeast from the east entrance of the channel of Néa Potídaia. The village Gerakiní is located about 0.5 miles north of it inland. It is an ore-loading port as well as the small harbor of the settlement Polýgyros.
In front of the skála (small harbor) there are the facilities of the metal mines of Gerakiní “Ellinikí Lefkólithos”, consisting of a warehouse (silo) on the shore, where cargo ships unload magnesite, and a conveyor belt, 80 meters long, which lies on a mole of south direction, with depths of about 3.9 meters near its head.
The mole leads to a silo from which barges are loaded and transported to vessels that have anchored offshore. A light is exhibited (40° 16’,2 N - 23° 26’,6 E) from the head of the mole. 0.2 miles east of the mole there is a jetty with depths of less than 1 meter near its head.
