Lourdas is a hillside area, which ends in a lovely sandy beach. The resort of Lourdas is dotted with private and tourist accomodation, shops and tavernas , cafes and shops. The combination of the crystal clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop of Mount Aenos provides a wonderful landscape that captivates all visitors. The beach is covered with white sand and is organized with sun beds and umbrellas. Lourdas is ideal for sea kayaking. There is a daily trip from Lourdas to Katelios fishing village, approximately 7 miles. Sandstone cliffs, non accessible sandy beaches and imposing rocks are along the way. After a visit to a complex of sea caves visitors stop to the beautiful beach of Koroni. Fine sand and crystal clear waters make Koroni an ideal stop for swimming, lunch and relaxation. It is an easy trip in usual weather conditions. Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of the most isolated beaches of the island.
Navigational Aids
The Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, situated on the plateau of Omala, is the largest religious monument in Kefalonia. Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint of the island who has built the monastery himself.
Immediately N of cape Ágios Sózon there is a NE-facing small harbor, with an entrance opening of about 20 m, which is protected by waves caused by S winds by a windward breakwater, which extends NE for about 50 m. Its outer side is made of natural boulders and the inner side is quayed.
