Syros’ exquisite capital, Ermoupolis, is not only the capital of the island itself but also of Cyclades since it has been the first important trade and industrial center of the country in the 19th century. The sandy beach Agathopes located 14 kilometers southwest of Ermoupoli, one kilometer from the Posidonia (Delagratsia), opposite the islands Shinonisi and Round. Using the same beach and seals Monachus monachus-spring to nest in a welcoming and safe sandy beach.
The sandy beach of Ambela is situated within a small cove close to Megas Gialos, at a distance of 12,5 kilometers far from Hermoupolis at the Southwest. It is a pretty secluded beach with nice sand and shade from trees, well protected from the northern winds.
The sandy beach of Delfini (“dolphin” in Greek) is a wonderful beach with a unique exotic atmosphere, situated almost at the middle of the western coast of the island, northern to Kini, from which it is some 2 kilometers far away. The distance from Hermoupolis is some 11 kilometers to the Northwest.
The tiny beach of Fabrika is found at a distance of 9 kilometers southern to Hermoupolis, within the well protected cove at the southeast of Vari. The place has been named after the old industry that operated there during the period of the industrial flourish of the island.
The long sandy beach of Galissas is extended in front of the homonymous popular and cosmopolitan resort situated at a distance of 9 kilometers southwestern to Hermoupolis. The settlement offers many alternatives for accommodation and high level facilities to the visitors and swimmers.
