Navigational Aids
The harbor is open to the southeast, 35 meters wide, and it is protected by a windward outer curved mole. The mole extends to the southwest for 50 meters and its outer side is protected by a slope of masonry.
The port of Vólos is a well-sheltered artificial port situated at the head of the homonymous bay. The port is the third largest port in Greece (after Peiraiás and ThessalonÃki) and it is the only important port in ThessalÃa.
Volos Marina is located in the center of Volos, a port city on the east coast of the Greek mainland, situated midway between Athens and Thessaloniki. Along with Skiathos marina they are the main ports of call to the Sporades sailing area.
The small port’s entrance is 50 meters wide and is facing northwest. It is protected from south winds by a windward mole, 130 meters long.
The theatre of ancient Demetrias is situated within the walls of ancient Demetrias, near the village of Nees Pagasses in Volos Municipality.It was built when the ancient city was founded, near the Palace of the Macedonian Kings.
The theater of Volos is situated in Riga Feraiou square and is one of the biggest stages in the Balkans. It can seat 1000 people.
At a distance of 7 km south-east of Volos the popular coastal tourist resort of Agria is a modern and dynamic town, full of life all year long. The plethora of coastal taverns, restaurants and refreshment stands offer visitors great gastronomic options as well as relaxation.
It is at the front of the homonymous settlement. It is a series of small sandy beaches in coves that are separated from each other by wide rocks.
The beach extends right after the coastal village of Agria, 1 km south of the village. This is an artificially constructed coast which consists of a concrete surface that reaches towards the edge of the wave breaking zone.
A reknown beach for its cold and abrupt waters. The beach has pebble and is found at the exit of the city to Agria.
The beach of Anavros has been consistently awarded with a blue flag and is found in the extension of Agios Konstantinos park. Organized sandy beach that is found quite near the city of Volos.
6 km before Volos, with good tourist infrastructure and awarded with a Blue Flag. The beach is extended at a length of 5 kilometers with plenty of free spaces, cafeterias and restaurants.
The settlement Kritharia, as Marathos, is found towards the way to Volos. From the first settlements inhabited by German vacationers.
Few kilometers after Chrysi Akti and in the direction of Volos, we meet the bight Mamidakis and the settlement of Agios Georgios Kynigon. The settlement has both permanent and seasonal residences along with a calm beach with pebbles and shingles.
