Planitis Port at Kyra Panagia Islet
Exploring Alonnisos Sailing Holidays area
Sailing Tip
The port Planítis is located about 1 mile south of cape Kyrá. Its entrance, which is formed south of the rocky islet Sfíka, is quite narrow (82 meters) and difficult to recognize from afar. Cape Ámplo is the northeast end of the port.
The depths in the fairway of its south and narrower part of the entrance channel are 7 meters, while the depths on the inner side of the port are 16 meters and decrease reaching 5 meters up to 100 meters offshore.
The sea in the inner part of the port is always calm regardless of the weather conditions. When strong north winds prevail, a heavy swell sets into the outer part of the entrance, but within the harbor the water is always calm.
When strong north winds prevail, leaving the bay can be difficult. At night the port is unlit, and approaching it is not recommended.
