Myrina provides very good shelter. You can either moor stern-to on the N quay or anchor off-shore. The inner harbor is too shallow and it is crowded with fishing boats. The mooring places at the N quay are not many and it best to arrive early. The harbor water is dirty.
Caution: Avoid the spot where the ferryboat from Ayios Efstratios moors. If you tie there, the coast guard will be asking you to move at a very early morning hour.
The town of Myrina is very attractive with many reminders of its Ottoman past. It is dominated by the Byzantine castle, built by the emperor Andronikos. There are many stores and little streets, yet it is not crowded and there is an over all laid back atmosphere.
Navigational Aids
Just to the E of the Cape Tigani (frying pan) there is a tiny very attractive cove. It is suitable only when the weather is sheltered for a brief stop.
Myrina is built on the west coast of the island of Lemnos, and is the capital of the island. Myrina is famous from ancient years for its amazing ouzo and wine.
Two kilometers away from Myrina, on the way to the vineyards-a growing zone in Mavrampelia, there is the winery of Savvoglou –Tsivolas. The company Limnos Organic Wines, Savvoglou - Tsivolas, has been founded in 2002 for the production and marketing of quality wines made of organic grapes.
Romaikos Gialos is one of the main beaches within a walking distance from Myrina Town. The neighbourhood is actually a suburb of Myrina and has lovely Neoclassical houses and narrow streets.
Riha Nera is one of the best organized beaches of Lemnos, which is after the Romaikos Gialos. The beach is sandy and features bars, restaurants and watersports.
This is one of the most popular tourist resorts in Lemnos lying amphitheatrically right beneath Platy village. This lovely beach stretches for about 700 meters and has various tourist facilities, including umbrellas and sundecks.
This is a charming beach found 37km east of Myrina Town, on the northern coast of the island. The isolated location brings to the forefront the natural beauty of the landscape and the peaceful atmosphere.
Cape Tigani lies on the south western coast of Lemnos, about 8km south of Myrina Town. The cove has a unique circular shape, surrounded by lush green hills mesmerizing the visitors.
