Kokkina beach is the mostly deserted, yet elegant beach in Lemnos. It is situated in the south western region of the cape of Fakos in the Kondias bay. Fakos is an ecological park and is about 11 km away from the capital city of Myrina. In the head of Kondias bay there is the beach of Diapori where dining facilities are available. From Diapori, a 7km long dirt road is leading the way to the beach of Kokkina. The location is ideal for long hours of peaceful swimming and sun bathing. Even though the travel through the dirt road is little bit tiresome, it is quite worth a try. Kokkina is one of the best unknown beaches of Lemnos. It provides a wonderful feeling with its thin reddish sand and turquoise waters. Enjoy the calmness and tranquility here far away from the usual crowd. The terrain here is somewhat rocky and hilly. Patches of greeneries are also seen here and there.
Two kilometers away from Myrina, on the way to the vineyards-a growing zone in Mavrampelia, there is the winery of Savvoglou –Tsivolas. The company Limnos Organic Wines, Savvoglou - Tsivolas, has been founded in 2002 for the production and marketing of quality wines made of organic grapes.
