It is located only 8 km from Katerini. A cosmopolitan coast unfolds in extent of many miles with fine, clean sand and shallow sea, ideal for families with small children. Wide and sandy, is flooded each summer by tourists. From the beach you can swim and gaze the imposing mount Olympus and Pieria and the mountain of Pierides Mouses. An organized beach with many taverns, cafes, ouzo selling restaurants but also marine sports.
On the south shores of cape Mikró Émvolo there is a small port suitable for berthing of pleasure and fishing boats. The small port is protected by a 400-meter-long windward angled breakwater of southeast direction, on the end of which a light operates, and a 100-meter-long leeward breakwater of southwest direction.
After being chased from Thessaloniki the Apostle Paul went to Veria, where he preached the Holy Gospel to jews and Greeks. The spot in Veria where Paul stood and preached, is called the "Apostle Paul's Altar" and is now an imposing monument with beautiful mosaics.
Continuing on the coastal street, after Stomio, the visitor will find Alexandrini beach with golden sandy beaches 2 km long in the camp of Agios Dimitrios. Clear waters and a beautiful and exotic landscape.
On the coastal line, after Kokkino Nero, the visitor will reach the scenic Stomio (in distance 49 km from Larisa) with the 2 km long golden sandy beaches in front of the settlement. Clear waters, very beautiful, exotic as well as inviting landscape.
Skotina attracts tourists mainly from Europe as it is situated in front of the blue Aegean Sea and the foothills of Mount Olympus. The bright sun and the vivid colors, the crystal sea and the golden sandy beaches remind us why the Greek Gods chose this area for their residence.
It is located 36 km away from Katerini and 56 km from Larisa and it is found at the south-east of the prefecture. The beach is under the castle of Platamonas, in a small creek and due to its location, it is occasionally also called Kastro.
