The name of the municipality derived from Ancient Stagira and Ancient Acanthus, two cities that played an important role in the region and more specifically in Halkidiki during ancient times. The main occupations of the people are tourism, fishing, mining, agriculture, timber and various services.
Ammouliani is located in the Gulf of Mount Athos, an island of 4.5 sq²/km with sublime beaches such as Alikes, Agios Georgios, Megali Ammos, Karagatsia with a crystal sea, abundant in fish and with rich undewater life for those who love underwater fishing and diving.
Navigational Aids
The small port is protected by a windward curved mole which extends to the north-northwest for 120 meters and on its head a light operates. The depths near the sides of the mole are 3 meters, which decrease normally towards its base.
The small port of Ouranoúpolis is located near cape Pýrgos, in front of the settlement Ouranoúpolis (960 residents). A mole extending to the west for 78 meters protects the small port from south winds.
Village Trypità is located in the northwest part of the coast of Próvlakas bay, with a T-shaped pier, 5 meters wide at its neck and 15 meters wide at its head. The waters near its head are 5 meters deep but they decrease normally towards the shore.
Mount Athos is also known as Agion Oros which means Holy Mountain and is the most famous complex of monasteries in Greece. Athos has 20 Eastern Orthodox monasteries.
The famous wine and tsipouro of Mount Athos is produced at Mylopotamos winery. The famous vines of Chalkidiki produce a very unique type of wine and amazing tsipouro.
The small port Néa Róda is open to the west and the width of its entrance is 100 meters. The depths in the inner part are about 3 meters, and they decrease normally towards the coast.
Small sandy bay at the rear end of the harbor near Olympias in Ancient Stagira. It is an organized beach but the nearby resort can also offer a range of services.
Approximately 6 kilometres from Olympiada, on your left , you will find the beach Zepko. It is also the last beach on this side, which is on the national road, while the next beaches are remote and need more travel over dirt-road.
Xiropotamo is located between Develiki and Trypiti. An amazing white sandy beach and quiet coast, with an amazing view to Ammouliani.

Small sandy gulf with shallow waters behind the small port in the area of Olympiada in Ancient Stagyra. Not an organized beach but the near settlement can offer a range of services.
Located in the middle of Chiliadou beach and Develiki beach, Petalidi is a long and wide beach separated by tall rocks. It has pebbles near the sea and sand in the rest of the area.
It is one of the big and quiet beaches of the Municipality with a tavern nearby. For those who love reading, it is an ideal place to enjoy a good book.
Located on the back side of the island, opposite Ouranopoli, is one of the most beautiful and large beaches of Ammouliani, shaping a well-written sandy arc, which is erased toward the coasts of Sithonia. The white fine sand and the crystal waters will amaze you.
Ammouliani is the only inhabited island in Chalkidiki, 4.5 m² in size, located 120 km from Thessaloniki.
Arsanas or Tarsanas is found on the borders of Mount Athos, after Ouranopoli and named after a monasterial shipyard found there. It is a rocky beach.
The most famous beach of Pyrgadikia, awarded with the blue flag and renown for her beauty. The sea lovers can enjoy the amazing waters while visitors can sit for coffee or drink at the cafeterias at the beach.

Ierissos, also known as Ancient Akanthos is one of the bigger towns in Chalkidiki. An endless, golden and clean sandy organized beach with a front in the homonymous settlement.
The 900 meter long municipal beach of Stratoni with a very beautiful piscatorial shelter and two refreshment stands plays an important role in the village mainly during the summertime. The beach is accessible from everywhere and equipped with ramps for handicapped people from the side of the harbor.
A series of small islets called by the locals, Gaidouronisia constitute a cluster of small islands at a distance less than two miles from Ouranopoli and Ammouliani. You can approach them with your own yacht or rent a small boat, from Ouranopoli or from Kamoudi.
An amazing beach with impressive granite rocks coming out of the sea and grained sand as rice. Make sure to have with you all the essentials since it is not an organized beach.

Organized sandy beach immediately after the Tato beach. Basically it is a small creek with enchanting sandy, shallow waters, scattered rocks and trees near the beach.
