The small port of Amfípolis is artificial, round shaped and it is located further to the east and near the mouth of Strymónas river. Its entrance is facing southwest, 100 meters wide, and the depths on its axis are about 2 meters, which change constantly due to the sandbars. A light operates on the southwest end of the port’s entrance. Vessels before entering should communicate with the local port authorities.
Depths of less than 5 meters are located on the inner side of the small port. On the sides of the entrance natural boulders have been placed. On the north, east and south shores of the small port there are quays, with depths of about 2 meters near them. Two floating jetties are situated at the head of the small port.
