Katelios is a lovely beach and one of the most picturesque villafes of Kefalonia that lies 30 km away from Argostoli, the main town between Skala and Lourda. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation. The beach is not a tourist resort but a relaxing spot with lush green hills that provide a beautiful backdrop. It is a protected area and tourist facilities are not allowed here. The coast is much preferred for long walks and sunbathing. At the main road of Katelios you will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish- taverns. A stroll around the village that lies amidst lush green forests with olive groves and lush vegetation in the green valley is quite interesting and refreshing, especially for the nature lovers who will surely appreciate such an experience. Some of the historical sights you shall visit is the impressive church of the Virgin and the tiny village of Markopoulos which is built amphithetrically on a high altitude with a perfect view to the Ionian sea.

Harbor Pórou is protected from waves caused by N winds by a mole that extends E for 146 m, with a width of 6.3 m.
Harbor Sámis is artificial and protected by a mole that extends almost W for 178 m, with a light at its head. The middle of its outer side has been widened to include a ramp 33 m long; it has depths of 8.
The Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, situated on the plateau of Omala, is the largest religious monument in Kefalonia. Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint of the island who has built the monastery himself.
Immediately N of cape Ágios Sózon there is a NE-facing small harbor, with an entrance opening of about 20 m, which is protected by waves caused by S winds by a windward breakwater, which extends NE for about 50 m. Its outer side is made of natural boulders and the inner side is quayed.
