Mandraki Harbor at Mandrakion
Exploring Nisyros Sailing Holidays area
The port of Mandráki is a small, artificial port that is open to the northeast. It is protected by an 86-meter-long mole that is set to the northeast. The total width of the mole is 20 m. Its north (outer) side is protected by a slope of masonry while its head and inner side are quayed, with nearby depths of approximately 5.2 m.
Starting from the southwest limit of the mole’s inner root, an 80-meter-long quay extends to the southeast (with depths of approximately 5 m) and then turns for another 30 m, with depths of 2 m. The rest part of the port’s southern shores is not quayed.
Navigational Aids
Pali is the only harbor on the island suitable for yachts. Since the re-orientation of the harbor entrance in 2007, shelter here has improved significantly, the meltemi (the Etesians) no longer sending in the uncomfortable swell of years past.
