This desolate beach is one of the few between Naxos and Apollon. There is plenty of debris from the sea and little in the way of development.
Psili Ammos is situated at the east side of Naxos, between Moutsouna and Panormos. Setting from Moutsouna to Panormos you will meet Kanaki, a small village, where you will find a small sign directing you to Psili Ammos.
Moutsouna is located at the eastern side of Naxos and it is the only natural port of the island, used mainly by the settlement of Apiranthos for exporting emery mined from the around areas. On your way from Apiranthos to Moutsouna you will see the old rail "air way", through which emery was transported from the mines to port's ladder in order to be loaded on the boats.
The beach of Lionas is situated in front of the homonymous scenic village, at a distance of 38 kilometers northeastern to the town of Naxos (Chora), at the northeastern coast of the island. Only a few facilities for accommodation are available in the village, but, once here, you will enjoy very much the calm beach with the deep crystal clear sea.
The old small settlement of Apollon has undergone tourist developments in recent years. The kouros and the crystal-clear waters are the main attractions.
This route leads to the highest mountain of all the Cycladic islands, Zas Mountain. Legend says that Zas has taken its name from the ancient God Zeus, who lived in the cave of Zas located on the western side of the mountain.
The Geological Museum of Naxos is located in Apeiranthos, a beautiful village 30 km away from Hora. It was founded in 1964 and operated for only 4 years.
