Santorini or Vlychada Marina is a new marina just west of cape Exomitis. The harbour is the only well protected harbour or anchorage of the island. The marina is about a 20 minute drive from Fira (capital of the island) and a 10 minute drive from the Santorini (Thira) International Airport (IATA: JTR).
Vlychada Marina has limited space for yachts, and it is an overnight base for a great number of day cruise catamarans. It provides alongside berthing in secure conditions with water, electricity, WCs and WiFi network included in the mooring fee of €20.
Sailing Tip
The harbour tends to silt during the winter storms and dredging operations are constantly going on in order to keep the depths of the harbour around 2.5 to 3.0 meters.

Navigational Aids
Skala Thíra or Skala Fira is the main harbor and where the cruise ships call. It is not really a harbor but a quay.
Katapola is the main harbor of Amorgos. It provides good shelter from the meltemi (the Etesians) (the Etesians).
Port Ios or Yialos is the only port on the island. It provides excellent shelter from the meltemi (the Etesians) (the Etesians) but during the peak holiday period it is so noisy with l disco music and loud beer parties, that it is impossible to sleep.
Athinios is a small commercial harbor about 3 nM south of Skala. It is usually crowded with small cargo ships.
This is a small harbor on the East coast of the island. The shelter here is reasonable but there is some swell with the meltemi (the Etesians) (the Etesians).
Skala or Alopronia is the harbor and only anchorage in Sikinos. The harbor is shallow with very limited room to manoeuvre and little space for yachts.
Karavostasi is the port of the island and it is only a somewhat secure anchorage. While you can anchor off, it is not safe with a strong meltemi (the Etesians).
The volcano of Santorini has the largest caldera in the world with a height of 300m and a diameter of 11km. Nea Kameni is the biggest tourist attraction due to its healing hot springs.
Kolumbo is an active submarine volcano located 7 km northeast Santorini island. The highest parts of the crater rim are now about 18 meters below sea level.
Oia is the most famous village of Santorini, a traditional village with small houses, narrow streets and blue domed churches. In Oia visitors can find many tavernas, cafes and tourist shops.
The Prehistoric Thera Museum, located in Fira, is an amazing building, offering visitors a comfortable tour. In the museum visitors learn about the history and geologyof Thera and see findings from the Neolithic period.
The Santorini Nautical Museum is located in the town of Oia. It was founded in 1956 and it is housed in a mansion since 1990.
The archeological museum of Santorini is located at the center of Fira. It hosts a unique collection of sculptures and inscriptions from the Archaic to the Roman period.
The Museum of Ancient, Byzantine and post-Byzantine Musical Instruments are housed in the old Community building of Oia in Santorini. The interesting collection of Mr Halaris, a famous musician, includes musical instruments that date from 2,800 B.
It is a reasonably shelter from the meltemi but there is almost always some swell. There is a small pier with about 6 m depth but it usually crowded with fishing boats.
The Hozoviotissa Monastery is an 11th century building, known as Virgin Mary. It is believed that its icon arrived on a boat from Palestine.
Ios is known for the vivid nightlife, the heart of clubbing in whole Cyclades, as many said. It is famous for its wild and crazy nightlife since the 1980s when hippies first came to these wonderful Cycladic island.
Il Gelato Doro Café offers authentic Gelato ice-cream, ideal with a cold coffee in hot days. It also has an amazing view of the sunset.
Kallistro is located in the Chora of Amorgos. It serves a wide range of coffees accompanied with delicious sweets, including homemade ice cream and local sweets.
It is the oldest cafe in Amorgos, operated continuously since 1950. It is located in the main road of Katapola, in front of the harbor.
Kalotaritissa is a sandy bay, protected by winds, found on the southernmost spot of Amorgos. A sandy beach with transparent, clean waters, Kalotaritissa is a favourite spot for fishermen too so the scenery is completed by the typical, colourful Greek caiques (small fishing boats).
Sandy beach by the harbor on the north side, a short distance from the beach Karavostasis. The beach has good dark sand and small pebbles and some hours of shade trees.
It is a small beach with deep blue water, located a few meters to the south of Ammoudi beach. It can be accessed by boat (from Ammoudi) or through 286 steps which begin at the marble street of Oia village.
It is 20 km far from Chora. After passing the crossroad to the beach of Kalotiratissa, 2 Km past the village of Kalofana, the road ends at the Ayia Paraskevi church.
Beach Kato Kampos is located on the south of Amorgos, very near Kalophana village. It consists of a small, scenic bay with sand and pebbles and clean, shallow waters.
Agioi Saranta is located very near Katapola, going leftwards. The beach is sandy with clean and cool waters but also deep so swimming here requires extra caution.
Foinikes is a remote beach in a walking distance from the port of Katapola. Totally secluded and surrounded by wild cliffs, Foinikes has clean water and no tourist facilities at all.
Katapola beach is situated nearby harbour. The harbour at Katapola is one of the finest natural harbours in the Aegean Sea and the Cycladic region.
The small beach is located just north Ntemeneou the shift in an open bay in an uninhabited area. The beach is protected only by westerly winds, has very clear water.
Ammoudi beach can be accessed either via the road (by car, mule, on foot) that leads to it or through the steps from Goulas, Oia. In the first case it takes 20-25 walking along the paved road to arrive at the bottom of the cliff.
Sandy beach located in the picturesque bay, the harbor, in front of the houses of the homonymous small settlement, located 3.5 km southeast of the town.
The beach Latinaki is the first of three successive beaches on three small coves on the south side Karavostassis a distance of 800 meters. Relatively isolated beach near the harbor offers peace, tranquility, clean seas, in a nice graphical view towards the islands.
Beach Vincenzo is the second of three successive beaches on three small coves on the south side Karavostassis just 850 meters from the port. The beach is relatively secluded but offers tranquility, calm, clean sea, a beautiful and picturesque setting with views across the islands.
The beach Pountaki is the third of three successive beaches on three small coves on the south side Karavostassis at 1000 meters. The beach is relatively secluded but offers tranquility, calm, clean sea, a beautiful and picturesque setting with views across the islands.
Situated near the scenic village of Karavostasi as well as the tourist settlement of Livadi, Livadi beach is a long sandy beach with sapphire waters, ideal for sunbathing, beach fun and water sports. Tamarisk trees offer shade to bathers who can also enjoy a refreshing drink or snack from the restaurant and bar at the camping nearby.
A great beach with clear blue waters and golden sand pebble in the southeast of the island. A very large rock a few meters into the sea creates a beautiful sight and attracts many swimmers who swim to swim here.
Single beach and relatively easy access from a wonderful trip around the half hour from Madonna - Heraklion. There is no any kind of organization so you need to arrange for the necessary (water, sunscreen, umbrella, hat, medicine and food).
The beach is located at the south part of Iraklia, in the homonymous cove of Merichas. It is a small steep pebbled beach surrounded by steep cliffs making the scenery stunningly imposing.
Karvounolakos beach is set on the south part of the island between Alimia and Merichas. This sandy beach is small and not organized but has marvelous waters alluring you to stay for hours in them! Around the coast you will see the stunning black rocks while its coast is of pretty light hues creating a unique contrast.

Agia Anna Beach is the nearest beach to both Katapola and Hora, and is where The Big Blue was filmed. The beach is actually a series of small pebbly coves strung out along the rocky shoreline, which can get really busy in summer.
Beach Mouros is located at about 15 km south from Amorgos Chora and can be reached through Arkesini village, by an asphalt road for 2 km up to the parking space and then 10’ walk through a path, that leads to the beach. The coast is beautiful with pebbles and unique turquoise waters, spread along with imposing rocks, while it is totally not organized, apart from a small tavern just above the beach.
Behind the bay of Kalotiratissa we find the small isle of Gramvoussa where there is a nice beach with sand, cobbles and crystal clear water. This beach can be reached from the port of Katapola or from the beach of Kalotiratissa using the “beach-taxi” service.
Beach Ammoudi is in walking distance from Amorgos Chora and Agia Anna beach and it boasts fine, dark grey pebbles. Ammoudi beach is a favorite spot for nudists as it is pretty secluded as it is often windy and the sea is pretty rough.
Vlychada is the last beach in the row of Perissa and Perivolos before Akrotiri. The pumice stone hills just behind the beach keep it calm and quite.
This is a quiet little beach to the south of the island, with fine golden sand and crystal waters. To reach someone Katsouni beach, must follow a path that passes over the beach Kleisidi.
The beach of Agia Theodoti is one of the most quiet ones in Ios and represents the ideal spot for those seeking for some quality, relaxation time away from the crowds. You can swim in the crystal clear waters and enjoy the sun in the golden sand or have an amazing meal in one of the traditional taverns of the area.
About 23 kilometres from Ormos port, on the south coast of Ios, at the end of Mylopotas beach, a road climbs up the hills and turns right before Kalamos monastery to reach the wonderful and almost deserted Manganari bay. This enchanting bay is divided into five idyllic beaches with golden sand or pebbles, and shallow crystalline emerald waters.
South west of Chora, Mylopotas beach, the busiest beach of Ios, can get really crowded during summer. The long sandy beach extends for one kilometre and offers sun beds, umbrellas, beach bars, cafes, restaurants and a great variety of sea sports.
Close to the picturesque port of Ios, you will find Gialos (Yialos), a small settlement with important tourist development. Gialos is only a few meters away from the port, therefore you have a very good view of the ships when they arrive.
Near Kokkini Ammos in the west is the beach Aspri Ammos where we have the same background environment, the only difference being that the cliffs surrounding the beach is white. Small, with crystal clear waters and lots of peace.
In southeastern side of the island about 6km from Fira one can find a small bay with two beaches near the village Vourvoulos. Dark impressive rocks and trees adorn the beach with its blue waters.
Pigadia is a small beach with sand and pebbles, east of the village of Vourvoulos and 7 km SE of Fira. The beach is located next to the beach of Vourvoulos.
A quiet, wonderful, rocky beach. One of the many hidden spots for swimming near the extreme nature of the island in the area of Akrotiri.
Red beach is located in the area of Akrotiri. Beautiful beach, well known for the unique color of the sand and the hill behind it.
Another amazing beach on the East side of Santorini where the rocks have that unique red colour (like the ones in red beach). Recently a small fishing boats harbor was created and of course there is a traditional greek tavern with fresh fish.
On the east side of the island and within walking distance from St. Theodoti lies a small village with a beautiful beach, Psathi.
The beautiful beach of Perivolos is located at the southeastern part of the island of Santorini between Perissa and Agios Georgios. With crystal clear waters and fine black sand, it is one of the best choices for spending whole day at the beach.
A beautiful golden sandy beach next to Kamari at a distance of about 9 km from Fira. In Monolithos area is located the Santorini airport.
Akrotiri beach is located next to ancient Akrotiri at the southern coast of Santorini. It lies next to Red Beach and White Beach.
Kambia is one of the less known beaches of Santorini in the area of Akrotiri at a distance of about 13 km from Fira. It can be reached by car or bike from the road that leads from Akrotiri to Faros.
Exo Gialos is a beautiful, quiet sandy and pebbly beach at a distance of about 4 km from Fira, at the east part of Santorini, with stunning rock formations. It is located east of Fira city and is kind of considered as the beach of Fira town.
Very near the airport of the island, between the Monolithos and Kamari, is Agia Paraskevi. It is a quiet area, which took its name from the church located there.
Located 10 km south of Fira, and is also one of the very popular beaches in Santorini. Considered one of the largest in the Cyclades, since it spans 5 kilometers along the east coast.
The Mpaxedes, called Paradise Beach is entirely north of the island, 3 km NE of Oia. It starts about 1 km after the Pori (direction north), is black in color and extends about 5 km almost to the Cape Mavropetra.
From the beaches at the North East part of Santorini, Kouloumbo (or Columbo) is the greatest. It is a long sandy beach of unique beauty nestled next to a cliff and the last one in Santorini that is not organised at all.
To the east of the island, just 16 km from the port, we find the beach of Kalamos. It is one of the quietest on the island, with crystal blue waters and golden sand, ideal for underwater search.
Koumpara is a frequented beach with golden sand and white pebbles, located 3km northwest of the port. The beautiful bay requires a 30-minute walking from Ormos port and it can also be reached by bus.

Maltas is a tranquil and secluded beach with white sand and pebbles and azure waters. It is located on the north eastern part of Sikinos in the homonymous bay and can be reached by boat or through the long path from Kastro settlement.
Megalos Roukounas is the most popular sandy beach on the island of the first centers lovers get together this summer. It is quite extensive (approximately 400 m long) and is the culmination of a stream that forms a small valley with olive trees and prickly pears.
Megas Potamos is a pebble-beach, created by a stream that has shaped a deep ravine between the hill of Kastelli and the mountain of Chalepa. It is located in the southern part of the island.
This beach got its name from the church of Agioi Anargyroi that has been built on a rock close to the sea. It is a nice, sandy beach with extremely crystal water.
The beach of Agios Nikolaos is found a few meters from the port. It isn’t, of course, an organized beach but there area few tourist amenities surrounding it, such as a small cafeteria, some traditional taverns and rooms to rent.
The beach of Kleisidi is located at a very small distance from Chora and has an excellent sandy beach. Traditional taverns surround the main road to the beach.
Located to the northeast of Alopronia, Dialiskari is a small sized beach quite similar to Agios Georgios. The white, sandy beach shores is covered with a few umbrellas and some ample trees for shade.
The beach of Klima is reachable only through the sea. It is located opposite Prasonisi, right after the beach of Mylopota.
Santorineika is a very small beach south east of the island. The boats from Santorini were loaded here with merchandise from the island.
Agios Georgios is the second largest beach on Sikinos and is found on the eastern side of the island. It is a sandy beach with enough trees to give you abundant shade.
Agios Panteleimonas is a small secluded sandy beach on the south eastern coast of the island suitable for those who seek seclusion. The beach can be accessed by boat but there is also the option to take the path from Alopronoia.
Ai Giannis is a small beach located on the south eastern part of the island within a bay which provides protection from winds. The beach is pebbled and has crystal clear waters but there is no natural shade around, therefore you should be prepared with supplies and protection from the sun for a joyful day at the beach.
Alopronoia is the largest beach on the island and is found next to the harbour of Sikinos. It is a family beach with soft golden sand, shallow water, trees or umbrellas if you want shade.
Kambaki is among the most secluded beaches on Ios located on the north western side of the island. The unspoilt beach of Kambaki gives a lovely scenery with azure waters and peaceful atmosphere.
Small quiet beach, behind the beach Koumbara, in the bay of the harbor. For those who love reading, it is an ideal place to enjoy a good book.
If you are looking for a peaceful place to combine relaxation with fishing, Anafi is the best option for you. Located near Santorini, at the southeastern edge of the Cyclades island complex, Anafi is an island with golden beaches and evergreen waters.
