The European path E4 after passing Zakros with its beautiful springs and remarkable gorge of the dead ends in the valley of Kato Zakros Minos four thousand years ago built one of his palaces. The settlement of Kato Zakros, which is only 8 km from Pano Zakros and 25 km from Palekastro is the most impressive small fishing village, tucked away in the southeast corner of Crete, behind the beautiful beach with tamarisk trees.

The pebbled beach Goudouras located 73 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos and 37 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the homonymous coastal settlement (approximately 300 residents). It is the last village in the eastern part of the south coast of Crete.
If a west wind blows then it is difficult to enjoy a swim at Goudouras.Then you can enjoy the crystal clear waters in Atherinolakos.
At a distance of 3.5 nautical miles south-southeast of Cape Goudouras and 10 nautical miles southeast of Makrigialos is a small and uninhabited island Koufonissi or Aspro.
The Krinaki beach got its name from the beautiful wild lilies that grow near the beach, located 3-4 km north of Xerokampos (dirt road) near the mouth of a river which is usually dry. The beach does not have any tourist facilities or other facilities for swimmers.
The secluded and very quiet beach Moni Kapsa is located 68 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos, 33 km east of Ierapetra and 10 km east from Makrigialos and are not sheltered from the wind. Actually it is a few consecutive coves with pebbles and some sand that will help you find your own to enjoy the crystal clear sea and peace.
About 38 km east of Ierapetra. An idyllic place, with crystal clear water and relatively isolated, Kalo Nero is the last beach east of Ierapetra, before Goudouras.
Lagada Beach, 6 km from Makrigialos is a great beach as Diaskari is not organized to those who do not want umbrellas, deckchairs and beach bar. It is sandy, sheltered from the wind and often you can see nudists.
Beach Diaskari is quite popular and attracts many young people who generally want to avoid the organized beaches. The beach is sandy and pebble in parts with large stone slippery slabs.
On the east, after the long beach there are two small beaches in front of the big hotels Sunwing and Small Town. These beaches are named Lagoufa.
The largest beach in Makrigialos is the beach, which was formerly known as Hani. Most simply say Makty Gialos (Long beach) because it has a length of almost a kilometer.
West of the harbor is the Kalamokania beach, where the water is slightly deeper. The beach is also sandy with small pebbles on the edge and served by the nearby cafes.
In front of the Roman villa is the beach Katovigli, pebbles and is affected by the winds. The beach has sunbeds and bars, although the harbor with its cafes are close by and can accommodate anyone .
The beach Koutsouras with dark gray pebbles lying stretched out on its back with crystal and blue-green waters. Located 55 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos and 20 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the seaside village and is well protected from the winds.
