The beach Gerani located 6 km west of Rethymno and is a bay with pebbles affected by the wind. This is a less organized and relatively quiet beach near the town of Rethymno. The beach is suitable for snorkeling. Access from Rethymnon is very easy drive.

The Folklore Museum of Chania is located at the center of the old city of Chania, next to the Catholic church. It houses two personal collections of folklore items, clothes and agricultural tools from Crete of past decades.
The Archeological museum of Rethymno was founded in 1887. Since 1991 the museum is located in the center of the old town of Rethymno opposite the main entrance of Fortezza.
The Municipal Art Gallery is located on the top of Halidon Street in Concert Koundouros. It is a three-floor building, built in 1910.

No-one is actually certain when the caves of Matala were created. Current thinking is that they are Roman or Early Christian tombs.
