Rock Climbing Field
Agiofarango is situated within an imposing gorge that runs down to the sea and is a popular sport climbing venue in Crete. The climbing is situated on both sides of the gorge, which means that climbers can have sun or shadow no matter the season or time of the day.
50 km south of Chania is the mountain village of Askyfou, Sfakia. There is an interesting war museum there, created by a local man, who was travelling all over Crete to collect every vestige of the battle, so as to keep alive the glorious memory of Cretan war history.
At ‘Vegera’ restaurant in Zaros village, visitors can participate in the cooking procedure, with local women showing traditional Cretan recipes. Visitors could help Vivi, the owner, during the preparation of the daily menu!
Cooked in virgin olive oil using only fresh ingredients, would be ready to be savored by visitors on spot.
Arkadiou Street, or Sabbionara, was during Venetian era but also today one of the most important streets of the urban fabric of the city. Lying in the heart of modern Rethymnon, it combines the oriental features of the Turkish period with Renaissance-style Venetian architecture.
Sarantauga, which means 40 eggs in Greek, is located in the central market of Heraklion and is an old traditional cafe dated back to 1924. A story says that the grandfather of the current owner, who was the founder, used to like many eggs, so he gave that name to his cafe.
Episkopis beach is located 12 km west of Rethymno and is a great sandy beach, several kilometers long that is affected by the wind. There are parts of the beach that are organized and have cafes, there are large chunks of the beach that are not organized where you can put your towel.
The Missiria is actually a suburb of Rethymno, within walking distance from the city center, just 3 km to the east and on the long sandy beach. Access from Rethymnon is very easy with regular and frequent bus, taxi and rented or private cars and motorcycles.
The STAY WET DIVING CENTER started operating in March 1995 with a few certified divers and expanded to one of the best organized diving bases in Crete. Recognized by the Greek Government, member of the PADI RESORT ASSOCIATION and certified by the quality control organization Veritas, keeps a high standard of security and service.
