Tholos beach is 26 km from Agios Nikolaos. It is a beautiful sandy beach with trees around, where bathers can lay down their shade. Tholos beach is providing a moderate sea kayaking trip. Visitors will enjoy the amazing landscape during a 12 miles trip. If the wind is force 1-2 anyone can join in this trip. Unfortunately, usually force is more than 3 so paddlers need to be able to track good in a straight line and also have enough stamina to paddle in winds force 4, for at least an hour.
The Marina of Agios Nikolaos, well protected in all weather conditions, is built to European standards and is capable of accommodating up to 255 boats all year round. The Marina provides all the necessary facilities for a pleasant short or long stay for yacht passengers and a safe environment for the boats.
The beach Koutsouras with dark gray pebbles lying stretched out on its back with crystal and blue-green waters. Located 55 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos and 20 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the seaside village and is well protected from the winds.
Ahlia sandy beach located 15 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the homonymous small settlement, well protected from the winds that blow in the region. The quietpebble beach of Agios Panteleimon is located 12 km South from Agios Nikolaos (next to the beach Karavostasi) ahead of the holiday village and Istro on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra. Beach is sheltered from the wind.
Located 13 km south of the city of Saint Nicholas in the tourist village Istro next to the Chryssi Akti beach in front of the hotel Istro Bay Hotel. Great sandy beach in a cove with turquoise waters and very well organized (sunbeds, umbrellas, sea sports etc).
The sandy beach Ammos is located near the city center and is sheltered from the winds. Visitors to the beach have at their disposal all the tourist infrastructure of the city for accommodation, food, fun and entertainment, shops,many services and the opportunity before or after their swim to see all the beauties of the city and the region.
The long sandy beach Almyros is the best beach in town, located about 1 kilometer south of the center of Agios Nicholaos in a well protected from the wind inlet. It is very well organized beach providing swimmers all the comforts with deck chairs and umbrellas, almost in the city and ideal for families with young children because it has shallow waters.
Small pebbled beach in front of the camping 'Gournia' is located 19 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra, after Istro before the Pachia Ammos. Beach is well protected from the winds in a small cove.
Pachia Ammou pebbled beach is located 20 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos, on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra, right next to the homonymous beautiful coastal village. Beach is not protected from the winds and is for the lovers of big waves.
The secluded and very quiet beach Moni Kapsa is located 68 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos, 33 km east of Ierapetra and 10 km east from Makrigialos and are not sheltered from the wind. Actually it is a few consecutive coves with pebbles and some sand that will help you find your own to enjoy the crystal clear sea and peace.
