Located 15 km west of Ierapetra the village of Myrtos has a pebbled beach, Myrtos beach, which is one of the best beaches of Ierapetra with grey sand and crystal clear waters. An important advantage is that the area is not affected by the winds. That makes it an ideal anchoring spot. The main beach is in front of the restaurants and cafes in Myrtos, and extends to the west. To the east is the beach with big pebbles and a few trees, ideal for anchoring, too.
The Marina of Agios Nikolaos, well protected in all weather conditions, is built to European standards and is capable of accommodating up to 255 boats all year round. The Marina provides all the necessary facilities for a pleasant short or long stay for yacht passengers and a safe environment for the boats.
Sarantauga, which means 40 eggs in Greek, is located in the central market of Heraklion and is an old traditional cafe dated back to 1924. A story says that the grandfather of the current owner, who was the founder, used to like many eggs, so he gave that name to his cafe.
Pachia Ammou pebbled beach is located 20 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos, on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra, right next to the homonymous beautiful coastal village. Beach is not protected from the winds and is for the lovers of big waves.
Small pebbled beach in front of the camping 'Gournia' is located 19 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra, after Istro before the Pachia Ammos. Beach is well protected from the winds in a small cove.
The long sandy beach Almyros is the best beach in town, located about 1 kilometer south of the center of Agios Nicholaos in a well protected from the wind inlet. It is very well organized beach providing swimmers all the comforts with deck chairs and umbrellas, almost in the city and ideal for families with young children because it has shallow waters.
The sandy beach Ammos is located near the city center and is sheltered from the winds. Visitors to the beach have at their disposal all the tourist infrastructure of the city for accommodation, food, fun and entertainment, shops,many services and the opportunity before or after their swim to see all the beauties of the city and the region.
Located 13 km south of the city of Saint Nicholas in the tourist village Istro next to the Chryssi Akti beach in front of the hotel Istro Bay Hotel. Great sandy beach in a cove with turquoise waters and very well organized (sunbeds, umbrellas, sea sports etc).
The quietpebble beach of Agios Panteleimon is located 12 km South from Agios Nikolaos (next to the beach Karavostasi) ahead of the holiday village and Istro on the main road leading from Agios Nikolaos to Sitia and Ierapetra. Beach is sheltered from the wind.
The small sandy beach of Milatos front of the small fishing village located 34 kilometers northwest from Saint Nicholas, 2 km north of the village of Milatos. The beach is well protected from the usual winds that blow in the region and has a small port that accommodates small fishing and tourist boats.
The beach just west of the Milatos Beach is located 33 kilometers northwest from Agios Nikolaos, approximately 2 km from the village of Milatos. This sandy beach in front of the Hotel 'Minos Imperial' is the best in the region and this leads to a small dirt road from the beach of Milatos.
Ahlia sandy beach located 15 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the homonymous small settlement, well protected from the winds that blow in the region. The visitor can enjoy the sea and the sun, enjoying all the amenities of the relatively well-organized beach (sunbeds, umbrellas, sea sports etc) without the crowds.
The islet of Chryssi (official name) or Gaidouronisi is located 8 miles south of Ierapetra on the Libyan Sea and is uninhabited, but has very nice beaches and great history. One of the best beaches in Greece, with beautiful golden sand, full of small shells and gorgeous turquoise waters.
Beautiful bay with fine sand and crystal waters 10 kilometers east of Ierapetra. The tiny sandy bay of Agia Fotia (Holy Fire) holds perhaps the most beautiful beach bar of the county with latin, cuban, and acid jazz sounds, which makes it very popular among young people.
The beach Koutsouras with dark gray pebbles lying stretched out on its back with crystal and blue-green waters. Located 55 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos and 20 kilometers east of Ierapetra, in front of the seaside village and is well protected from the winds.
The secluded and very quiet beach Moni Kapsa is located 68 km southeast from Agios Nikolaos, 33 km east of Ierapetra and 10 km east from Makrigialos and are not sheltered from the wind. Actually it is a few consecutive coves with pebbles and some sand that will help you find your own to enjoy the crystal clear sea and peace.
