The islet of Chryssi (official name) or Gaidouronisi is located 8 miles south of Ierapetra on the Libyan Sea and is uninhabited, but has very nice beaches and great history. One of the best beaches in Greece, with beautiful golden sand, full of small shells and gorgeous turquoise waters. 5 km in length and width of 1km. The time a visitor has at his disposal he can split it up in a nice swim in a fantastic sea on many small sandy beaches and some interesting walks in some parts. Access is from Ierapetra by excursion boats daily at 10:30 and at 12:30 am with return at 5:00 and 6:00 in the afternoon. The journey takes about an hour. The boats make these excursions from May until late October.
