Porto di Augusta is situated on the SE coast of Sicilia, and on the W side of Baia di Augusta. Several large oil refineries with associated chimneys, flares and jetties occupy almost all of the shore to the W of Baia di Augusta. Some of the chimneys in the refineries are marked by red air obstruction lights. Anchorage, under the pilot’s directions, can be obtained inside the breakwaters but clear of the leading marks restricted area; holding is not very good.
