Cattolica, a small town and fishing harbour, also popular with pleasure craft, is situated about 10 miles SE of Rimini. From seaward Cattolica is spread along the shore between the village of Gabicce on a hill 144 m high, 1 mile E of Cattolica Light, and the mouth of Torrente Conca. Anchorage may be obtained offshore along this stretch of coast sheltered from S and W winds but exposed to those between NW and SE through N; SW winds give rise to violent squalls.
