The Acropolis is located at the center of Athens. Acropolis was built in 5th century B.C. and it contains some of the most significant ancient masterpieces in the world. Its most important buildings including the Parthenon, the Propylaia, the Erechtheion and the temple of Athena Nike. The Parthenon and the other buildings were seriously damaged during the 1687 siege by the Venetians in the Morean War when the Parthenon was being used as a gunpowder storage and was hit by a cannonball. Acropolis is in UNESCO`s World Heritage List.
