Mesta is a famous traditional medieval settlement on the south western part of Chios island. It was built during the Genoese domination. In the castle there are magnificent stone-built houses which are connected with arches. There is also an ancient church near the central square of the castle. On the square there are, also, some cafes and a traditional taverna where visitors can enjoy delicious dishes cooked with famous Chios products.
