Sailing Holidays in Nikolaos Skoufas

Nikolaos Skoufas is a municipality in the regional unit of Arta, named after a leader of the Greek independence movement. Peta, the seat of the municipality, is a village with traditional houses, built amphitheatrically on a hill with a view of Arta. Visit the triple-naved basilica of Aghios Georgios (18th century) at the beautiful square with sycamore trees and traditional coffee shops where you can sample the local tsipouro and liqueurs.

The Monastery of Panagia (18th century) contains a small epitaph from 1643 which is embroidered with gold, two gold-plated shrines and a gospel from 1833. Koboti, a town of the municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas, is built in an area full of olive trees containing many traditional stone houses and public buildings.

This is the homeland of Nikolaos Skoufas, one of the founders of Filiki Eteria, a secret 19th-century organization whose purpose was to overthrow the Ottoman rule of Greece and establish an independent Greek state. The church of Agios Georgios built in 1741 is wonderful. Fotino, a village of the municipality, is built on a beautiful hilly area which is about 500 meters high.
