The cove of Vathý is open to the east and looks like a deep and narrow fjord. The small homonymous village is located at the head of the cove. There is a fertile valley at its inland, with citrus and olive trees.

The bottom that consists of sand and mud is good holding and the cove is affected from the northeast and the southeast winds. When strong east and southeast winds prevail on winter, they raise up waves in the cove, with a total height of 2 m.
