The volcano of Santorini has the largest caldera in the world with a height of 300m and a diameter of 11km. Nea Kameni is the biggest tourist attraction due to its healing hot springs. Visitors can approach springs with their boats and enjoy a bath in the hot springs. Nea Kameni has a surface area of 340 hectares and its highest point reaches 127 meters above sea level. Where the volcanic tephra has formed a thick enough layer, some grasses, succulents and amaranths manage to survive, while in the spring wild flowers spread a colorful carpet over the summit. There are a few wild rabbits and thousands of tiny lizards.Visitors can, also, walk on the volcano but they have to be careful because the volcano is still activated.
